Research has shown that meditation is a powerful tool for calming our minds and our bodies. It can help us cope with the effects of stress, anxiety, lack of sleep and emotional disruptions.
And if you found two seconds to look at the Internet today, you can laugh that you even considered reading a message about taking the time to meditate. Ha!

Why Mothers Should Make Time to Meditate

· Meditation can change your life; it just can’t change your baby or make dinner. When we think of meditation, we think of sitting on a pillow in some quiet, peaceful and serene place and finding deep relaxation within the cosmos. Then life intervenes and there is no pillow, let alone peace and quiet. Still, meditation for new mothers or any mothers can be positively life-altering. Why? A short meditation can relax your nervous system and give you a feeling of peace and well being; it can sharpen your clarity and energize you. In short, taking a few minutes to meditate can greatly contribute to a more balanced life.

· You could find the time to meditate within a group or class somewhere, but your demanding life may not allow for that. So I am going to suggest a meditation for moms that you can do anywhere, anytime and doesn’t require a pillow. And you can still get the same benefits that meditation brings to those who practice it more formally.

Meditation is Breath Awareness

So much of meditation is about breathing. Breathing can regulate our pulse and our blood pressure, as well as help reduce anxiety. Lots of moms have anxiety. Who wouldn’t in this

world? You can’t be super mom every second of the day! Sometimes I don’t think that we even realize how bombarded we are with input and action. Mother’s are the original multi-taskers and there is just no other way around the job, so moms need to be aware of how they can take moments throughout the day to nurture their hearts and minds.

Simple Meditation Technique

Go pick up that crying baby and sit in a comfortable chair.

While holding the baby, take a deep breath in through the nose and let it out through the mouth with a quiet, breathy ahhhhh sound. Let your belly get soft and your shoulders drop. Continue to do this about 15 times. Your baby will probably get quiet as you do. Pay attention to the feel of the breath going in through your nose and the soft sound it makes as you exhale. Let your thoughts go. It’s not that you are going to be able to stop all thought, but you will notice that your mind stops jumping around so much.

If you feel like you just can’t stop thinking at all, create a mantra for yourself. A mantra is something that you repeat over and over again to help still your mind. A simple mantra might be “thank you” as you inhale and as you exhale. Just keep repeating ‘thank you’ in your mind as you breathe deeply through the nose and exhale softly through the mouth.

You will notice that after a few minutes your body will begin to relax and your mind won’t be jumpy.

Portable Meditation

The key is to breathe deeply and slowly. You can do this as you cook; as you pick up toys; as you walk outside pushing a stroller. You can do this several times a day. Research shows that when we breathe deeply and quiet the mind, our body chemistry changes. The body creates good chemicals that are healing as opposed to bad chemicals which can raise our blood pressure and create inflammation. Plus, a more relaxed body and mind just feels better throughout the day. This is a great little meditation if you suffer from anxiety. You can practice it anywhere at any time and it’s a good tool to have in your tool box for coping with the stresses and demands of motherhood.

Numerous benefits are experienced by those who take in cholesterol supplements. This is because most act as a blood detoxifier which helps in breaking up stagnation in a person’s body. Additionally, it also helps in lowering the triglycerides and cholesterol levels of a person. Apart from that, it helps maintain or improve the HDL (high-density lipoproteins) to LDL (low-density lipoproteins) ratio. Moreover, these natural supplements are known to be great heart boosters which strengthen the heart and helps eliminate plague from the tiny arteries. Due to this, the probability of experiencing heart attacks is reduced. Furthermore, it relaxes the muscles which helps alleviate menstrual pain.

Another good reason why natural supplements are highly recommended is because these are safe and nontoxic to the human body. In addition, these cholesterol supplements are used for dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, skin rashes and weight management. It also improves circulation; gives relief from arthritis pain and treat boils.

In choosing the right cholesterol supplements, some of the ingredients that one should look for would include: Guggul, Inositol Hexanicotinate, Plant Sterols and Plant Stanols; Policosanol, Red Yeast Rice and Selenomethionine. Guggul is known to reduce high cholesterol because it lowers harmful LDL while elevating the beneficial HDL. Inositol Hexanicotinate on the other hand has been proven to decrease triglyceride while increasing HDL cholesterol and lowering LDL cholesterol. Moreover, it decreases lipoprotein as well as fibrinogen which helps reduce cardiovascular related diseases.

When it comes to lowering one’s cholesterol and protecting the heart, Plant Sterols and Plant Stanols does a pretty good job while Red Yeast Rice is known to invigorate the function of the spleen while promoting blood circulation and soothing upset stomach.

Policosanol is a nutrient found in beeswax and raw sugar cane known to extensively decrease LDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL levels. It also lowers the total triglycerides without raising blood sugar levels. Selenomethionine is a hypolipidemic that helps improve diabetic symptoms and prevents ventricular tachycardia. It also helps protect against heart failure and cardiomyopathy.

The importance of lowering one’s triglycerides and balancing the cholesterol level of a person can be achieved through a healthy diet, regular exercise and taking natural supplements such as LipidShield. This cholesterol supplement already contains all of the ingredients mentioned above to reduce LDL and increase HDL while obtaining a total triglyceride reduction in order to finally live a healthier and productive life.

I am often asked, with so many prenatal vitamins already on the market, why we at Sound Formulas decided to research, formulate and manufacture our own brand of prenatal vitamins called Before Baby Boost. My answer is simple. The quality of the available prenatal vitamins did not meet the most basic needs of developing baby AND their pregnant mothers. A mother’s body donates all the nutrients to form her baby’s body. Since the baby developing inside her body is nature’s priority, it takes what it needs. If there aren’t enough high quality nutrients developmental problems may occur in baby’s body. What often goes unrecognized is that even if baby’s body gets the nutrients it needs for proper development, mother’s body may suffer nutrient deficiencies causing long-term physical and/or emotional conditions. Here are what I call the Seven Sins of Prenatal Vitamins: Most Doctors Don’t Even Know This… But They Should! 1. Poor Quality: Most prenatal vitamins contain poor quality, synthetic forms of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants like an inferior form of B12 called Cyancobalamin (that’s harder on your liver) and the cheap, hard to absorb, Calcium Carbonate. With these forms, you and your baby won’t get all the nutrients you [...]

Here are what I call the Seven Sins of Prenatal Vitamins:

Most Doctors Don’t Even Know This… But They Should!

With these forms, you and your baby won’t get all the nutrients you need!

2. Inadequate Potency: Most have inadequate potency (not enough for baby and mom, based on current research). You can’t expect to magically make a perfect loaf of bread from a teaspoon of flour, and you can’t expect to create a healthy baby without enough nutrients either! Here’s an example: folic acid. Most prenatal vitamins contain 400 mcg of folic acid, but research indicates that you and your baby really need at least 800 mcg!

3. Tablet Form: Most are hard to digest due to being highly compressed and covered with waxes, such as carnauba wax. This stuff is great for waxing cars and protecting the noses of jet airplanes, but your stomach can’t penetrate it! There are true stories of “port-a-potties” being emptied with hundreds of undigested multivitamins found at the bottom. Use capsule forms instead.

4. No Omega-3s: Most prenatal vitamins DO NOT contain optimal Omega-3 fatty acids, in the form of high quality fish oils, that build your baby’s brain, nervous system, eyes, skin, and cells. If they are included, they probably don’t contain a high enough dosage of DHA and EPA oils or aren’t certified free of dangerous heavy metals such as mercury, lead (ever heard of lead poisoning?) cadmium, aluminum and PCBs (environmental toxins). Flaxseed oil does not easily convert into DHA oil, which is essential for baby and mom. They also may not be in the needed amounts.

5. Calcium & Iron Together: Iron and Calcium should be taken at separate times of the day. Why? Calcium and iron compete and interfere with the absorption of each other so they can cancel each other out. Not good for you or your baby’s health.

6. Missing Nutrients: Most prenatal vitamins don’t contain key nutrients (like C0Q10 and alpha lipoic acid) that truly help the body produce an abundance of natural energy, something all pregnant moms need. These powerhouse nutrients are expensive and rarely included in prenatal vitamins.

Solutions to Sleeplessness “Morning Queasyness”: Many prenatals don’t address specific problems that pregnant women experience. Sleeplessness (see Before Baby Boost™’s Nighttime Formula) can be helped with a nighttime calcium and magnesium supplement. And “morning queasiness” can be quelled with natural solutions like Papain enzyme (from Papaya) and Ginger Root Extract.

It is vitally important that you think of both your developing baby and yourself when purchasing your prenatal vitamins. If your body is depleted you ability to take care of your family and yourself is diminished; often with very sad consequences.

Do you want to understand what many other health benefits of vaporization would bring to you? Then learn along and discover.
Using digital vaporizers to assist you to stop smoking

First, vaporization is healthier than smoking because it does not involve combustion. It also does not give off carcinogenic substances like what smoking does to your body. Vapor is also cooler to the body than cigarette smoke, which will not affect or damage your throat and lungs.

One element of smoking is the combustion factor. If you smoke tobacco, you inhale cancer-inducing elements that can be very damaging to your body. Also, in the combustion process, only 25% – 50% of the natural flavors of tobacco are delivered as the rest are wasted or destroyed by burning and oxidation.

On the other hand, if you vaporize tobacco, you get to inhale the pure natural flavors of it since it does not burn the substance, like what happens in smoking. When you vaporize tobacco, it gives off an odorless and warm vapor, rather than the high temperature you get when smoking which is probably the same thing when you inhale fire. And that can do more damage to your lungs and throat.

Vaporization gives off 100 % pure substances

In the process associated with vaporization, the actual substance or material that’s vaporized will keep its purest form. The therapeutic substance won’t be diluted or combined with any kind of chemicals. The most crucial overall health benefit of vaporization is that it produces an even more potent vaporized element, therefore it can easily heal you quickly.

Digital Vaporization is more efficient compared to consuming pills.

Pills are usually usually insulated or encased in a coating which would need the stomach acids to further break it down in order for it to be effective. Vaporization as a method for delivery of therapeutic substance works better since it goes straight to your blood vessels through the lungs and definitely will work more effectively.

It decreases the exposure to infected needles
An additional healthy benefit of vaporization is that vaporized substances usually enter through the oral cavity and nostril. There won’t be any need for any injections that might cause infection coming from contaminated or unclean needles.

Now, you know the different health benefits of vaporization, you have to try it to believe it.

For most mothers I know, there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day. So cooking can seem like just one more thing in an unending list of responsibilities and obligations.

A good method to assure that you are getting clean, nutrition dense food is to make a little extra for freezing and also to take some time every few days to cook some things that will keep in the fridge and allow you to put together easy, healthy meals.

Vegetables that are steamed and kept in the fridge in Tupperware can be eaten cold with or without a little salad dressing or added to salads. Cook vegetables so that they still have a slightly firm consistency and retain a deep rich color. Hard vegetables like carrots need a longer cook time, whereas soft vegetables like summer squash cook up quickly. Please use organic wherever possible, but especially with any roots or leafy greens.

Here are some suggestions as to what to keep in the fridge:

Steamed Broccoli: Cook up short stemmed florets in steamer basket for 5 to 7 minutes (don’t let it get soft.) Can be eaten cold with a little dressing or added to salad. Source of vitamin C, fiber, folic acid and calcium.

Baked Roots: Bake garnet yam, yellow fin or purple potato and keep in fridge. The combination of cold broccoli and yellow fins are one of my favorites! The garnet yams contain beta carotene, a good source of vitamin A.

Shredded beets and carrots: Shred beets in a food processor and steam for 5 minutes. Add chopped basil and a little brown rice vinegar. Also good if you want to combine carrots with beets. Both beets and carrots are rich in antioxidants and fiber. Basil is a source of B6 which can help with that queasy feeling when you are pregnant.

Lettuce in a bag: Wash a colorful lettuce like Boston lettuce that has red tips and tear into bite size pieces and store in Tupperware container. This base for salad can come in handy when all you have to do is add some meat and pre-shredded veggies. Warning: lettuce stored like this only lasts for about three days at a time, so don’t plan on storing it a week!

Shredded roots: Shred carrots, beets, dicon radish and keep in separate containers for quick salad makings. Good sources of vitamins A,C and K.

Roasted chicken breasts: bake a couple of boneless, skinless chicken breasts brushed with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper and keep these in a container with a tight fitting lid. Makes for fast chicken sandwiches or salad topping and is a source of protein.

Here are some other must-haves:

Beans: cans of chickpeas, black eyed peas and kidney beans which provide B-vitamins and fiber and can be used in salads.

Broths: I like and recommend Imagine Foods because the sodium content is reasonable and they do not use MSG or sugar in their broths. Broth can be a tasty lunch to which you can add peas, noodles or chicken for a fast and complete meal. I like to use rice noodles and some sesame oil or soy sauce for an Asian inspired meal.

Frozen veggies: Those frozen vegetables are not my first choice, they are certainly better than no vegetables. There are quite a few companies who make organic, frozen vegetables that have no added chemicals. It’s easy to keep things like, frozen peas, asparagus, broccoli, carrots and corn in the freezer to add to broths or eggs or to just cook on their own for a fast and easy meal.

Simple seasonings: brown rice vinegar, tamari soy sauce, garlic, gomasio (sea salt and sesame seeds), raw seeds and nuts for toppings (sunflower seeds, pepitas, pine nuts), salt and of course pepper.

Bon appetite!

The pituitary gland is a pea-sized, reddish gray organ in the center of the brain, just above and behind the nose.

Pituitary carcinomas occur in both sexes, usually by the third or fourth decades of life. These tumors are quite common with 25% of people having small pituitary tumors on autopsy but most are symptom free and the vast majority of pituitary adenomas go undiagnosed throughout life.

Types of Pituitary Tumors

The types are named after the types of hormones the pituitary makes and include prolactin-producing adenomas, somatotrophin-secreting adenomas, corticotrophin-secreting adenomas, gonadotrophin-secreting adenomas, thyrotrophin-secreting adenomas, null cell adenomas, and adenomas of the mixed cell type. Another type of pituitary cancer shows up as very large hands, feet and face (acromegaly). The three tissue types of Pituitary tumours include; Chromophobe Adenoma (90%), Basophil Adenoma and Eosinophil Adenoma.

Causes

Although the exact cause is unknown, a predisposition to Pituitary tumors may be inherited through an autosomal dominant trait. Chromophobe adenoma may be associated with production of corticotrophin, melanocyte stimulating hormone, growth hormone and prolactin. Basophil adenoma with excess corticotrophin production and consequently with Cushings syndrome. Eosinophil adenoma with excessive growth hormone production.

Signs and Symptoms

As pituitary tumors grow they replace normal glandular tissue and enlarge the tissue that house the pituitary gland (sella turcica). The resulting pressure on adjacent intracranial structures produces the following typical symptoms: frontal headaches, vision problems, personality changes or dementia, seizures, head tilting and dizziness, strabismus, nystagmus, nausea and vomiting, or any of the problems caused by the production of too many hormones such as infertility or loss of menstrual periods in women, abnormal growth, high blood pressure, heat or cold intolerance, and other skin and body changes.

Diagnosis

An MRI scan is now considered the imaging modality of choice for the diagnosis of pituitary disorders because of its multiplanar capability and good soft tissue contrast enhancement. The definitive diagnosis depends on the histological identification of the tumour found at surgery.

Treatment

Treatment of pituitary neoplasms involves surgery, radiotherapy and drug therapy. Radiotherapy can be used as the primary treatment of pituitary tumours or as an adjunct to surgery. Medical therapy involves the replacement of hormones in hypopituitarism or suppression of hormone release in functional tumours.

Prognosis of Pituitary Cancer

Although prognosis depends on the type of pituitary tumor and the patient age and general state of health, pituitary tumors are usually curable, although many people will have to continue taking hormone replacements, sometimes for the rest of their lives.

The migraine headache affects approximately 15% of the population. Women are affected 3 times more than men. Children can also experience migraines, but they often experience abdominal migraines (stomach pain without the headache).

Causes of Migraine

In the past, scientists believed a narrowing and widening of blood vessels in the brain caused a migraine. Medical science now believes a migraine headache is caused by a disorder in the brain that may be genetic (passed through the family line).

In this disorder electrical changes in the brain cause the release of inflammatory (swelling) chemicals, irritating nerve roots in response to certain triggers.

Triggers of Migraines

Migraine triggers can include food or chemical (particularly alcohol) intolerance, bright flashing
lights, stress, physical activity, weather changes, hormonal changes, episodes of low blood sugar from poor food choices and nutritional deficiencies, or any combination of these.

Stages/Symptoms of Migraines

There are four stages typical to a migraine headache. Not all sufferers experience all stages.

1. The Prodromal Phase

This first phase experienced by 40-60% of migraine sufferers comes between just hours to several days before the headache. Symptoms include sleepiness, stiff neck, fatigue, irritability, depression, increased urination, altered bowel habits, and craving sweet foods

2.The Aura Phase

This second phase is experienced by 20-30% of migraine sufferers. It comes just before the headache. Symptoms of this phase include seeing flashing/kaleidoscope like lights, dizziness, pins and needles/numbness on one side of the face or down one arm, difficulty speaking, an intense sense of smell, or hearing noises.

3.The Headache

The majority of migraine sufferers experience this third and main phase. It varies in intensity and is generally on only half the head. Vomiting and nausea, diarrhea, and sweating often accompany the headache. Many migraine sufferers find it necessary to lie down in a darkened room until the worst passes. This phase can last several hours to several days.

4.The Postdrome

Most migraine sufferers experience this final phase. The individual generally feels tired, irritable, and has difficulty concentrating.

Treatment

Conventional treatment includes medications to prevent the headache or to shorten the attack and relieve the headache.

Alternative treatment involves a holistic approach. This would involve identifying and reducing triggers with changes in life style and diet, reducing stress, correcting nutritional deficiencies and neck and spinal misalignments.

Here are my 8 top tips for curing your migraine:

1.Keep your blood sugar balanced by eating a wholefood diet with regular meals and avoiding refined foods made from white flour, sugar in any form including honey and syrup.

2.Take a nutritional supplement designed to correct a blood sugar imbalance.

3.Take a reputable food and chemical intolerance test to identify food and chemical sensitivities and avoid them.

4.Get a hair mineral analysis done to identify mineral deficiencies especially magnesium and use diet and supplements to correct these.

5.Take steps to balance your hormones through diet and nutritional supplements.

6.Reduce or avoid stress and practice relaxation techniques or yoga regularly.

7.Avoid known triggers like excessive or strenuous exercise or flashing lights.

8.Get an osteopath or chiropractor to check that your neck and spinal bones are not out of alignment.

By understanding more about migraine and finding the underlying cause or causes and correcting them may take time but will be well worth it in the end when you reduce or eliminate your migraines
for good.

Out of the large number of different supplements existing on the marketplace today, it is a difficult and confusing task to choose the supplement that is right for you. Is it easy to make a distinction between these supplements? Good supplements are easily available in the market that can help you in reducing weight, we can easily find these natural supplements in todays online world.

With some research you can find all the information that you need about these products. You could easily obtain all the information from the internet and it is an extremely easy task to identify fakes from the real ones.

Appetite suppressants are the most famous supplement available in market today. But be careful because a lot of them are just fakes. Utmost care should be taken while choosing one of them as they can cause bad side effects like severe headache and nausea. So researching for the side effects in any particular brand that you select becomes the highest priority before buying any supplements.

Hoodia gordonii is a well known brand of appetite suppressant for which so far no side effects has been reported. This brand has been clinically verified to work. But take care, there are a lot of fake items that claim that they are hoodia gordonii. To make sure that you are choosing the real hoodia always check the label whether it says that it contains clean hoodia gordonii from southern Africa.

There is an entire crowd of other supplements existing in the market that can assist you in your weight shedding efforts, together with products like carb blockers and fat burners. No matter which you choose, investigate correctly to be safe without any side effects.

Apart from gaining information about the supplements through the internet you could also gather information by talking to people. Ask your family or friends about their experiences with the supplements. Discuss with your doctor and get information about whether a product is safe to use and is not having any side effects.

Natural weight loss is a which will develop over time, but natural supplements are a way to help you develop those needed habits.

Have you ever thought that acne is a skin disorder that only affects teenagers? many people would answer this question with a “yes”, while this is right in a great percentage of cases, there are several adults suffering from acne. Yes, it is true, acne can effect people into their forties and beyond. Then, what we will try with this article is to review the main aspects of adult acne and analyze some hard figures in terms of percentages. Moreover, describe the causes and symptoms of adult acne and list some treatments. However, it is always advisable visit your doctor for specialized recommendations.

Adult acne is a common but rarely discussed complaint that is thought to affect around 25% of adult men and up to 50% of adult women at some time in their adult lives as clinical researches have found out. Consequently, acne is more common in women than men and it can be developed even if you never suffered from acne as a child. Twenty five per cent of acne occurs for the first time over the age of 26 years and it is sometimes the result of stress and/or dehydration. Adult acne is also prevalent, especially among people in the age group of 25 to 40. Adult acne also tends to be more resilient, with deep, blind pimples that can last for weeks. Many visits to the dermatologist are due to Acne Vulgaris.

Although the triggers for adult acne are unknown, it is thought to have hormonal roots. Therefore, it can be caused by a hormonal imbalances, pollution, medications, or stress as stated above. Studies have shown a direct correlation between hormonal imbalances and outbreaks of acne in women ranging in age from 30 to 40 years, stress, alcohol and hot foods could aggravate the condition. However, adult acne can be fully controlled by various treatments.

Adult acne, which is really just the same as teenage acne, can start in women who have just given birth because of changes in hormone levels, and can appear in women who had little or no acne as teenagers. It can become very severe, and can lead to pustule and papule formation.

Adult acne care is different from adolescent acne care, as the hormones going through ones body are different. Therefore do not assume what you used to cure your teenage acne problem will cure your adult problems as well.

Certainly, adult Acne sounds funny, but nearly seventeen million people in the United States suffer from acne, corresponding 18% to adults, this makes acne the most common skin disease.

To sum up, it is generally accepted and documented that adult acne is a very common skin disorder in adults, it affects 25 per cent of men and 50 percent of women. Furthermore, it haven been proven the direct relation between hormonal imbalances and acne. Nevertheless, there are treatments available for this disease, and you should visit your doctor for advise.
